Metabolic Syndrome Health Check-up Starting from April 2008

 Recently, the control of the Labor Standards Inspection Office is strengthened, and the responsibility of companies and managers are imposed on taking care about their employees’ health problems.

 Employees from 40 to 74 years of age, who are covered by the Japanese Health Insurance Society, are required to receive a further "Metabolic Syndrome" examination on top of the regular annual health check-up. (Please check your health insurance society.)

 If you are identified as having "Metabolic Syndrome" or have a high chance of developing "Metabolic Syndrome", you will be required to receive special medical guidance.

Metabolic Syndrome Conditions

Metabolic Syndrome conditions are;

 1. Waist measurement (diameter) is greater than or equal to 85cm for male, 90 cm for females
 2. Triglyceride reading of over 150mg/dl and, or HDL Cholesterol reading of under 40mg/dl
 3. Systolic BP of over 130mmHg and, or Diastolic reading of over 85mmHg
 4. Blood Glucose level of over 110mg/dl (empty stomach)

 1+two of（2,3,4）⇒Metabolic Syndrome
 1+one of （2,3,4）⇒High chance of Metabolic syndrome

e.g.

 Motivation support:
 waist≧90 female, smoking - & hyperlipidemia
 BMI≧25, smoking - & one or two risks

 Active support:
 waist≧85 male & Diabetes & Hypertension
 BMI≧25, smoking + & one risk

Special Medical Guidance

If you are identified as having "Metabolic Syndrome" or have a high chance of developing "Metabolic Syndrome", you will be required to receive special medical guidance.

 A man to man consultation at least 20 minutes.
 A group consultation with less than 8 people at least 80 minutes.

 For Active support, continuance medical support more than 3 months is essential.

 Both supports follow an evaluation (consultation, phone, email) after 6 months.
