Why do we need a Health Check-Up in Japan?

 Companies have to know about their employees’ health situations and excessive working hours.
 Company doctors analyze employees' health situation based on the result of their periodic health check-up reports.
 Company doctors provide health care guidance and consultations to overtime working employees based on the result of their periodic health check-up reports.

 You Must Receive a Health Check-Up Every Year!

Periodic health check-up is decided by the Industry Safety and Health Law in Japan

 A company has an obligation to provide a periodic health check-up at least once a year.
 An employee has an obligation to take periodic health check-up at least once a year.
 A company is also obliged to keep the periodic check-up reports and the record must be reported to the head of the labor standards inspection office.

 You Must Receive a Health Check-Up Every Year!

It is also decided by your company’s Rules of Employment in Japan

 Employees must undergo a health check-up at the time of employment, during the annually scheduled medical examination period or when required by the Company.

Industry Safety and Health Law Suggests 8 health Check-Up Items to be Examined

 However, an employee is not obliged to take the check-up at the hospital/clinic which the company provides if he/she is able to provide a medical report which is equivalent to the report which a company designated hospital/clinic would provide at their own expense.

 Factors that company doctor need to know are;

1. Past history
2. Any symptoms
3. Height & body weight, hearing, eyesight, waist
4. Chest X-ray
5. Blood pressure
6. Laboratory examination; RBC, Hb, GOT, GPT, γGTP, T chol (LDL chol), HDL chol, TG, Blood sugar
7. Urine examination; urinary sugar, urinary protein
8. ECG
